A Legacy of Central Texas Development
Bill Hayes is the founder and visionary behind W Hayes Ventures. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, he has been deeply involved in some of the most significant residential and mixed-use developments in the Austin–Lakeway area.
As former Chief Operating Officer of Legend Communities, Bill played a pivotal role in the development of Rough Hollow, one of the region’s premier lakeside communities. His experience extended to the development of The Peninsula at Rough Hollow, where an understanding of land, architecture, community planning, and luxury residential development came together to create one of Lakeway’s most desirable neighborhoods.
Bill was also instrumental in the development of Hacienda Heights, Rough Hollow’s luxury neighborhood, where he worked with leading custom home builders to create residences that complement the dramatic beauty of the Hill Country and Lake Travis.
That experience gave Bill a rare perspective: an understanding not only of how to build a beautiful home, but how to identify exceptional land, understand a neighborhood’s character, anticipate what discerning buyers value, and create a property that belongs naturally within its setting.

Throughout his career, Bill has worked at the intersection of real estate, design, development, and community. His portfolio of experience includes large-scale residential communities as well as ambitious mixed-use projects.
He was a key leader behind The Square at Lakeway, a transformative mixed-use development envisioned as a new downtown destination for Lakeway. The project, valued at more than $500 million, was designed to bring together retail, restaurants, offices, a boutique hotel, apartments, condominiums, and single-family residences around a central town-square concept.
